About

Hello and congratulations on the new addition to your family!  I’m Audelle Bodie. I’m so glad you are seeking support for this exciting and often challenging time in your life.  It will be my honor to share in this journey with you!!

I am based in The Bronx, NY and work with families in all boroughs and lower Westchester County.

While I have decades of experience supporting new mothers and their families, I got so inspired helping a friend care for her newborn that I decided to pursue this calling more formally.  I will work with you to identify your needs and “love language” – how do you feel most supported?

Some ways that I can support your family as a postpartum doula:

  • Support with baby feeding options and breastfeeding tips & tools
  • Holistic meals and snacks with advice on optimal postnatal nutrition
  • Tips for navigating through sleepless nights and days
  • Education on infant care (bathing, cord care, diapering, reading baby’s cues, calming techniques)
  • Baby care while you rest/shower/breathe
  • Therapeutic techniques such as herbal teas, essential oils, and reflexology for postpartum healing and easing maternal anxiety
  • Sibling care as you bond with baby
  • Support in processing your birth experience
  • Light housekeeping such as tidying the kitchen, doing baby’s laundry, organizing the nursery

I look forward to customizing my services to what you and your family need to help you thrive!

License, Certifications and/or Trainings

I am a DONA-trained postpartum doula.

I am a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) with The Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice.

I am also certified in Integrative Reflexology which supports improved circulation to various body parts through massage of the hands and feet.

Education and Experience

In addition to my doula training and hands-on experiences, I have extensive lactation support training from the Healthy Children's Center for Breastfeeding and The Brooklyn Midwifery & Medical Group.

Approach to Treatment

My passion is to help new mothers heal and to teach their partners how to aid in that process as well.  I will gladly work myself out of a job as your confidence, skills, and understanding of your newborn increases.

I offer my services primarily in the evenings, weekends, and overnight for a few reasons:

  • Newborns need to eat and/or have their diapers changed at least 10-12 times in a 24 hour period and those times are often in conflict with your natural sleep patterns.
  • Babies are not yet aligned to our sleep patterns so 2 a.m. isn't much different than 2 p.m. for your baby (but it is for you so extra help at that time may be needed at least in the beginning)
  • I can help with light household chores (prepping meals, doing dishes, etc.) so that when your partner returns from work in the evening, you can bond with each other and the baby until bedtime
  • I can see baby's hunger cues sooner since I'll be awake and can assist with nighttime feedings
  • If you are breastfeeding, your milk supply and nighttime feedings are tied together by hormones (babies want to nurse at night because there's more milk then and that nighttime milk helps them get on your schedule)
  • Older siblings will be home from daycare/school and also need attention for homework, bath/bedtime rituals.  We can decide together how to accomplish your goals
  • I can prep breakfast and other daytime meals/snacks as you rest.
